Giving Back Close to Home: Introducing Our Community Spotlight Series

At Franklin & Frankel, we’re lucky to work in a community we care about. West Hartford is where our clients live, where our team puts down roots, and where we show up outside of work, too.

We’re excited to put a spotlight on some of the local organizations we’re proud to support. These are great causes doing real, meaningful work in our backyard, and we want more people to know about them.

We’re kicking off the series with the Miracle League of Connecticut.

The Miracle League of CT holds a special place for us. Our firm’s founder, Scott Franklin, was part of the founding group of the Miracle League of CT, and that connection has only deepened our commitment to their mission. This season, we were honored to have a team named in our honor: the Franklin Fidgets! (Youth athlete pictured above with Chris Montrose, the executive director of the Miracle League).

The Miracle League of CT is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to providing recreational and sporting opportunities for children with physical and cognitive challenges at accessible facilities, built on the belief that every child deserves a chance to play. Their wheelchair-accessible baseball field at the corner of Asylum Ave. and Trout Brook Drive was the first of its kind in New England, and what started with just over 100 athletes has grown into a community serving more than 1,000 children and families every year.

Beyond baseball, they’ve expanded to include adaptive cycling through their iCan Bike summer camp, adapted swim, dance, and karate lessons, and community events throughout the year that bring families together in an inclusive, accessible environment.

For our firm, supporting the Miracle League is personal. Estate planning for families with special needs children is a meaningful part of our practice, and the values that drive the Miracle League’s work, inclusion, access, and independence, align with why we do what we do.
